Theobroma bicolor (pataxte or macambo) is a rare tropical rainforest fruit related to cacao.
Its seeds can be made into chocolate or eaten fried or in soups. The pulp surrounding the seeds can be eaten fresh and has a sweet, mild taste.
The texture of the pulp is a mix between a starchy banana and durian.
The smell of theobroma bicolor is intoxicating. It smells like musky floral chocolate.
A very limited quantity of this fruit is available this week.
