Physalis peruviana, also known as Cape gooseberry or goldenberry is a South American plant native to Colombia, Ecuador and Peru.
Golden berries are bright, orange-colored fruits that are closely related to the tomatillo. Like tomatillos, they are wrapped in a papery husk called a calyx that must be removed before eating.
The flavor is tart and sweet like an orange flavored blueberry. The flavor has notes of orange, lemon, pineapple, mango.
They're ready when picked. Eat or refrigerate right away.
The total weight of each box varies depending on the size, shape, and mass of the fruit:
A full Goldenberry Small Box contains up to 8 half-pints.
A full Jaboticaba Large Box contains up to 16 half- pints.
We ALWAYS recommend ordering a LARGE BOX for the best value, when compared to a Small Box. Because shipping, handling, and delivery are so expensive per package, the Large Box will contain more fruit and ultimately a better value.
