Origin: Jackfruit originates in the regions between the Western Ghats of Southern India all of Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and the rainforests of the Philippines, Indonesia, and Malaysia. Our Jackfruit is grown on small sustainable farms in South Florida.
Flavor Profile: Many Jackfruit lovers correlate its flavor with the gum Juicy Fruit. Jackfruit's texture can be chewy or slimy depending on the variety, and ripeness. Some people enjoy jackfruit underripe, while others prefer it as ripe as they can get it.
How To Eat: This fruit may need some time to ripen at room temperature (70 degrees or above) prior to consumption. Before cutting, press on the outside, it should have some give. Also, the jackfruit should have a fragrant fruity smell before you cut it as well. This delicious fruit is often eaten on its own, but it can be cooked with barbecue sauce to make a healthy plant-based alternative to pulled pork sandwiches or even blended into a smoothie with coconut milk and ice.
What Size Jackfruit Will I Receive?: The Jackfruit Box consists of approximately 20-45 pound Jackfruit. Usually, the fruit weighs upwards of 30-50 pounds, but it all depends on the season, weather, and the shipping location. The fruit may occasionally be smaller if it’s a small variety or if shipping to a very distant region.
Fun Fact: Jackfruit is the largest tree fruit in the world, reaching up to 80 pounds in weight.
