Description
Strawberry Tree Berry (Muntingia calabura) also known as Panama cherry, Jamaica cherry, or cotton candy berry, is a little red berry that tastes sort of like Cap'n Crunch cereal.
Muntingia calabura is native to southern Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America, and western South America. The strawberry tree berries we offer are grown on our farm in South Florida.
The entire berry is edible and contains tiny seeds that are so small you won't even notice them while eating.
Its initial flavor is sweet like cotton candy or cereal, but it does have a slightly bitter aftertaste that goes away shortly. The flavor is obviously unique and doesn't taste exactly like artificially sweetened cereal, but it is a close replica, or what we like to call "nature's version" of Cap'n Crunch cereal.
To eat, pour the frozen strawberry tree berries into a bowl of water and let thaw for 30 minutes. You can add them to smoothies or use them as a topping for smoothie bowls.
Frozen products must be stored in the freezer, not the fridge.
Approximately 200g of frozen strawberry tree berry per bottle. These strawberry tree berries are frozen and shipped to you in packets inside a biodegradable cooler with cold reusable cold packs or dry ice.
