This apple is pinkish red on the inside and is sweet and tart in flavor. The flavor would best be compared to pink lemonade. The texture is firm and crispy.
This unique apple was discovered in the 1960s at a fruit farm in Airlie Oregon when the owner took a bite of an apple from a mature tree and found it was pinkish red on the inside. The farm was later sold in 1966, and then 20 years later, the field manager of the farm rediscovered the special tree after taking bite from one of its apples. The scions from tree were then grafted onto other trees. The first Hidden Rose orchard was planted in 1992.
The apple is certified by The Oregon Tilth Organization and the United States Department of Agriculture.
Hidden rose apples are ripe and ready to eat as soon as you receive them!
