Origin: Longan, a native fruit to Southern Asia, means "dragon's eye" in Chinese, because the unshelled fruit resembles a dragon's eyeball. The black seed of the longan fruit shows through its translucent flesh. The fruit is a tropical member of the soapberry family, which is the same family the lychee belongs to.
Flavor Profile: Longans are very juicy, with a high water content water, and high in natural sugars; so it is very sweet. The translucent flesh has the consistency of a grape and it also has a grape-like taste to some.
How To Eat: Longan is tree-ripened and arrives ready to eat immediately. Refrigerate if not consumed immediately to preserve shelf life.
First come first serve, any orders that can't be shipped this season will be reserved for next season.

I ordered a small box and took advantage of a BOGO. I am so glad that I did. I have had other soapberries but I can see why this is a favorite in that category. I would describe it as the taste of honeydew melon with a tinge of rose and honey but the texture of a soft grape. It is truly delicious. Highly recommend. I'm so looking forward to my next box of fruit from Miami Fruit!
Have always loved lychees but they are so rarely available. Now that I have found Miami Fruit I was able to buy Longans as my first order. They are fabulous! When I read that they are in the same family as lychees I had to try them. They are small and delicious. I have other fruits (including the Emperor Lychees) on order now. I’d rather have Longans than candy or dessert! I will be a steady customer of Miami Fruit.

Look at the size of those babies!! I can’t believe the size of these longans. They are fresh, firm and sweet. When you bite down on them, the skin comes right off easily and the flesh of the fruit comes right off the seed. They are SO addictive. Worth the price……like they say, you get what you pay for. These longans were very sweet and juicy. They arrived intact and were so ready to eat that a gentle squeeze easily released the fruit from the peel. I ordered a large box and was able to eat large portions of the fruit daily for a week. I would definitely treat myself to these again.

It is a sweet tasting little grape size fruit inside the shell, all you do is cut the fruit from the branch, rinse the off and into the refrigerator for cooling and sit down and enjoy. My friend's wife makes a jam out of them also....ENJOY
It was a great treat to receive my longans. It's been so many years since I had them. The subtle floral notes blended into the smooth fruit and brought back memories. In general, I have been happy with Miami Fruit. It is packaged well and nothing comes bruised or crushed. Though it seems expensive, I understand the care that goes into producing rare products and shipping them properly. So I'm willing to pay for it because I have thrown out so much supermarket fruit, and especially mangos that are woody, fibrous, and rot before they ripen. If I factor in the expense of all the bad fruit, I am willing to pay for the good fruit.

arrived in the mail less than a week from when i made the order. no mold, pests, or damage while in transit. VERY FRESH!! the fruit is very tasty (like a super sweet grape) and easy to peel with some help with a sharp paring knife, the texture just kinda weirded me out (then again, i have a N.D thing when it comes to food textures). though i wish there was a "try me" size option (ex: 16- 20 oz option) instead of the 3-5 lbs option. butluckily, i have plenty of friends at my local coffee café that are willing to try some.
