Just when you thought melon season was over for most of the country... Here in South Florida, we are just beginning to harvest these sweet little Sakata melons.
Sakata Sweet melons are an heirloom variety of Cucumis melo that have grown in China and Japan for thousands of years.
These small melons were re-branded and introduced to the present-day market by the Sakata Seed Company of Japan.
They're also known as:
Taiwan melon, Korean melon, or Japanese Heirloom melon.
