Just when you think fruit couldn't get any more interesting, behold, snake fruit!
The outer shell of this fruit looks and feels exactly like snakeskin. The skin peels off easily (once thawed) to reveal what almost resembles garlic cloves inside.
This variety in particular "salacca sumalee" is brown inside and the flavor has a wide range of sweet, sour, savory, and bitter.
It has a unique flavor that may be an acquired taste for some. There are notes of jackfruit, pineapple, soursop, and rum.
