The variety in this picture is called "African Pride" It is more smooth than bumpy on the outside, but the inside texture is more sweet and creamy like a sugar apple.
The variety pictured is called "Geffner". It is more bumpy on the outside like a sugar apple, but the inside is more chewy like a cherimoya. The "Geffner" variety is one of the few annona varieties that are good at self pollinating.
Atemoya is the result of a sugar apple tree pollinating a cherimoya tree or vice versa. This happens naturally when a cherimoya tree and sugar apple tree grow close together. To make flowers more likely to bear fruit, you can also hand pollinate by collecting the pollen from a male flower with a paintbrush and brushing the inside of a female flower lightly with the pollen. You can also plant atemoya seeds and grow atemoya.
