Description
Origin: Every coconut contains a layer of meat, around a pint of water, and a tiny seed the size of a pearl. After almost 6 months in the tree, the coconut will drop to the ground. After a few more months, the seed fills the coconut and starts consuming the meat. The meat becomes a thin crispy layer. This creates a big spongy mass that can have a flavor profile ranging from sweet and juicy to salty and savory. The texture is akin to cotton candy or sponge cake.
Flavor Profile: Each sprout tastes a bit different. Usually, the most flavor can be found in the outer skin of the embryo. In the Hawaiian islands, only the Alii (the kings) were allowed to eat it, and they would share the mana (energy) with hundreds of people. It is a very filling and satisfying food.
How To Eat: We recommend opening the coconut with a machete or a cleaver. (See video below for instructions on how to open).

I have always wanted to try sprouted coconut. It was more savory than I expected. My favorite part was the thin flesh with pure coconut oil around the sponge.
I ordered the sprouted coconut to surprise my mom. And let me tell you she was surprised. Loved it. She told me that she ate this growing up and haven’t tried it in last 35 years. I was expecting to get a sprouted coconut since the website said they were out of season and on preorder- I was so stoked when I got in in the mail for my birthday. I think it probably could have sprouted more so there’d be less pulp - in but sure but the sprouted part was delicious. Such a unique texture and experience.

First time trying a sprouted coconut and it was amazing! The inside was soft and spongy. The actual coconut was a little thinner than a regular coconut but just as delicious if not better! Will be buying again! And if you get the sprout off intact, you can grow your own tree!
They were excellent!! I like to take the sprout spongy part and dip in the emulsified coconut around the inside shell. I also find that I like the sponge part better after being removed and refrigerated. I save the dip too. Everything from this company is top notch! It’s the best way to try fruit! You will always get the best selection for first timers as well. The best of the best fruit!
These came in great condition. I enjoyed them. They taste better after you’ve opened them and put them in the fridge. I scrape the emulsified coconut out and also put it in a container in the fridge. Take the sprout spongy part and spread the emulsified coconut on it. Great combo

I am satisfied, the texture is spongy, and extremely moist, when I break pieces off you can feel the coconut water dripping. Mine was slightly sweet! The coconut was just like I imagine, and shipping time was fast!
All fruit came in excellent condition (better than local supermarket) and the box contained a generous variety. I will be ordering again!
The coconut took a bit of work to open so I recommend getting no husk coconut when you place your order. The coconut didn't have much juice but the meat was like a sponge cake. It was a bit salty and savory, definitely not sweet at all. I tend to like it sweet so I didn't eat much but my boyfriend said it was the best coconut he has ever had (he normally doesn't like it but quite enjoyed eating this) and my dog also loved it too lol.

Loved being able to order a favorite tropical treat that isn't available here in MA. Miami Fruit may be a small co. but they provide a big menu of possibilities. Had a bit of an issue that was efficiently and satisfactorily handled. I will definitely order again.

The sprouted coconut was exactly what we were looking for. I’ve never had one but this satisfied my curiosity. It’s messy to open and really hard. Best to do it outside with a large strong knife. Shipping was fast (considering the usps has been a mess lately). I will definitely be back to order more. Thank you for having an awesome shop!

I love coconut. This was totally new to me. It was like trying coconut for the 1st time. So excellent. It was spongy, a little bit salty and sweet. It was also almost buttery on the outside of the sponge. The coconuts came in great shape and not too hard to open as the husk had degraded some so it was softer. I planted the sprouts in a pot and I can plant them in my yard when I move to Florida. 😀
Using the method demonstrated I had both husked and opened in 5 minutes. One was sweet and the other a little salty, but with a greater flavor profile. Refrigerated is the best way to enjoy the sprouted section as well as the remaining coconut meat inside. Good stuff!
