Description
Origin: Cacao is believed to have evolved in the Upper Amazon region in an area that now includes some of Peru, Ecuador and Colombia. From there it spread Northward. Our Cacao is grown sustainably in Ecuador.
Flavor Profile: The flesh of Cacao is sweet and slightly citrusy. The seed is rich like dark chocolate or fresh coffee.
How To Eat: Cacao is ready to eat as soon as it arrives. Inside the cacao pod, you can eat the sweet flesh off the seeds. The seeds can also be eaten raw. If you want to make cacao nibs, make sure to roast or thoroughly dehydrate the seeds and then pulse blend in a food processor or blender.
Warning: Cacao seeds contain caffeine and theobromine
The total weight of each box varies depending on the size, shape, and mass of the fruit:
- One Fruit contains one piece of fruit (sizing varies)
- Small Box contains up to 3-5 pounds
- Large Box contains up to 8-10 pounds
- Extra Large Box contains up to 16-20 pounds
- Bulk Box contains up to 34-40 pounds
We ALWAYS recommend ordering a LARGE BOX for the best value, when compared to a Small Box. Because shipping, handling, and delivery are so expensive per package, the Large Box will contain more fruit and ultimately a better value.

Raw Vegan Fudge Brownie Bar Recipe:
Ingredients:
• 1 whole cacao pod
•1 yellow dragonfruit
•2 Gros Michel Bananas
•20 small dates
•1/2 cup walnuts
Instructions: Blend until Smooth. Consistency should be thick and somewhat hard to blend, use tamper if necessary.
Grab a small shallow container, I used a Tupperware and line with plastic wrap. Scoop/Poor contents of the blender into container. Top with cacao nibs, walnuts, cacao beans, or any topping you have. Freeze overnight. Pull out of freezer and place onto turmeric stained cutting board for rustic pictures. 📸ENJOY QUICKLY because it will melt in the heat

SO DELICIOUS I LOVE CACAO ! it was so addicting and flavorful and i even keep the shell its so awesome, worth every bit.

I’ve placed 2 cacao orders from Miami fruit. The pods arrived quickly and it was such a fun experience to make my own chocolate.
Made chocolate for the first time, the beans were great quality! I think 1 of them was slightly dried but I don’t believe it made a difference in the chocolate flavor. I just got a wet grinder to make the texture even smoother and will be buying again.

Cacao fruit is a delicious a lychee/mangosteen-like flavor (slightly floral, slightly citrusy). Used the Cacao to make chocolate, which turned out delicious! They sent pods that were very ripe. As fruit, cacao is better when on the slightly unripe side, but for chocolate making these were exactly what I was looking for.
Cacao pods were off the chain ! Made chocolate nibs WOWEE!
I received the large box of cocoa pods from Miami Fruit with great anticipation. I then cut open the pods, collected and tasted the cocoa seeds, yummy sweet tart taste, fermented the beans for 10 days, dried the beans in the sun for three days, oven roasted, and hand winnowed the chocolate beans from the husk to produce these beautiful cocoa beans. Then, I made cocoa tea from the hand ground nibs, chocolate and banana flavors in the tea. A truly unique and intensely crafted experience. Thank you Miami Fruit!

Decades ago when traveling, our guide pulled a cacao pod off of a tree and let everyone in the group taste a piece of the fruit inside... It was an unforgettable experience, and the memory of the taste of that fruit stayed with me. I wondered if I'd ever get to taste another in my lifetime? Finding that same fruit available to buy online and get delivered the next day from Miami Fruit was surreal and exciting... And I've now bought several boxes over the years, for special occasions, and it has become my daughter's #1 favorite fruit. The way we eat it is to cut open the pod, and then treat each individual fruit/bean a little like a sucking candy -- I just pop it in my mouth without chewing it and savor that unbelievable flavor, and then after a few minutes I chew the bean. If you've ever eaten cacao nibs, that's basically what the bean beneath the fruit tastes like, kind of a raw/fresh version of the nibs you'd typically get in the store. So: my review of this fruit is 5 stars and I highly recommend giving it a taste at least once. I'm also able to highly recommend Miami Fruit itself -- in my view the best "test" of a company is to see how they handle a problem, and I've placed enough orders with them over the years that a couple of problems did occur, and I have to say their customer service is absolutely top notch. Don't hesitate to order from them!

I ordered Cacao Pods on the Black Friday sale, and I am glad Miami Fruits sent me these amazing fruits (the delivery was lightning fast; the fruits were fresh; the order was sent for a specific occasion). The white stuff in cacao pods has a tropical flavor and is really tasty! Cacao beans are somewhat bitter, but they are way tastier than the dried ones from the supermarket! Cacao pods are second to none in comparison with "average/normal" fruits!
