Description

Origin: Ackee is native to tropical West Africa and is now widely grown throughout the Caribbean and other tropical regions, including South Florida.

Flavor Profile: Fresh ackee has a rich, delicate flavor and soft, creamy texture. When properly ripened, the yellow flesh is mild and slightly nutty, making it a unique tropical fruit unlike almost anything else.

How To Eat: Ackee must be fully ripe and naturally opened on its own before eating. Remove and discard the rind, seeds, and red membrane, and consume only the ripe yellow flesh. Never eat unopened or unripe ackee, even if cooked.

Customer Disclosure: By purchasing fresh ackee, you acknowledge that proper ripening, preparation, and consumption are your responsibility. Do not consume if the fruit has not naturally opened, and only eat the yellow portions of the fruit. The rind, seed, and red membrane should be disposed of and not consumed.

First come first serve, any orders that can't be shipped this season will be reserved for next season.

The total weight of the box varies depending on the size, shape, and mass of the fruit:

  • Small Box contains up to 2.5 -3.5 pounds with rind
  • Large Box contains up to 4.5 - 5.5 pounds with rind

We ALWAYS recommend ordering a LARGE BOX for the best value, when compared to a Small Box. Because shipping, handling, and delivery are so expensive per package, the Large Box will contain more fruit and ultimately a better value.
