Longan season is approaching!
This unique little fruit packs a sweet and juicy punch with a flavor that reminds us of butterscotch candy.
The name Longan comes from the Cantonese word for "dragon eye". The fruit was given this name because it resembles an eyeball, with the black seed representing the pupil and the white flesh resembling the white of the eye.
Longans are related to lychee and rambutan.
They're ready to eat as soon as they're harvested. You can eat the longans immediately and refrigerate any leftovers.
