Description
Origin: Variegated Monstera Deliciosa is one of the rarest fruiting tropical plants in cultivation. Native to Panama and Southern Mexico, this stunning mutation of Monstera Deliciosa is prized worldwide for its beautiful cream and green marbled leaves. The variegation is caused by a lack of chlorophyll which makes it more difficult to grow the plants because they cannot convert sunlight into energy hence why they’re more rare. While thousands of plant collectors grow variegated monstera as an ornamental houseplant, very few ever experience its fruit. Our fruits are grown on small sustainable farms in South Florida, and due to the plant's slow growth and limited production, we only have 5 fruits available this year.
Variegated Monstera is a true collector's fruit and an opportunity that comes around only once a season. If you've ever admired a variegated monstera plant, this is your chance to taste the fruit that made the species famous.
Flavor Profile: Variegated Monstera Deliciosa produces the same legendary flavor that has earned Monstera the nickname "fruit salad plant." Expect notes of sweet pineapple, mango, banana, and tropical candy with a juicy, creamy texture. The flavor is intensely sweet, aromatic, and unlike any other fruit.
How To Eat: This delicious fruit starts to ripen at the stalk end first and slowly ripens all the way to the tip in sections. We recommend placing the fruit tip-down in a jar or glass and allowing it to ripen on the counter. MAKE SURE TO ONLY EAT WHEN RIPE. As the fruit ripens, the scales will loosen and fall away naturally, revealing the edible flesh beneath. The fruit should be soft before eating. Because it ripens gradually, you may only be able to enjoy a small section each day as it continues to mature.
