Origin: Ugly Betty is a variety that comes from the breeding program of Gary Zill in Boynton Beach, FL. It originated as a seedling of the 'Carrie' mango.
Flavor Profile: This luscious mango is a Carrie seedling. It was named after its unattractive outer skin, which is often bumpy or lumpy. Despite its appearance, the Ugly Betty Mango has an extremely delicious flavor that more than makes up for its looks. It is sweet, rich in flavor, and has a smooth, fiberless texture.
How To Eat: To adequately ripen, mangoes should be stored at room temperature on a counter or in a pantry at 70 degrees Fahrenheit or above. Always go by softness when determining a mango's ripeness. When they are ready to eat, mangoes will be soft all over. THIS MANGO MAY STAY GREEN WHEN RIPE.
