Description
Origin: Soursop is a fruit native to South and Central America. It grows in the Caribbean and very recently began growing in Miami. It is in the same genus, Annona, as cherimoya and is in the Annonaceae family.
Flavor Profile: The flavor has been described as a combination of strawberry and pineapple, with sour citrus flavor notes contrasting with an underlying creamy flavor reminiscent of coconut or banana.
Soursop is widely promoted (sometimes as "graviola") for its regenerative benefits.
In particular, it is a rich source of annonaceous acetogenin compounds (AGEs). Acetogenins inhibit nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, which is contained in the membranes of cancer cells.
How To Eat: Once the fruit is soft all over, cut it in half and eat with a spoon. Avoid eating the seeds and the skin.
The total weight of the box varies depending on the size, shape, and mass of the fruit:
- One Fruit contains 1 piece of fruit (sizing varies)
- Small Box contains up to 3-6 pounds
- Large Box contains up to 8-12 pounds
- Extra Large Box contains up to 16-20 pounds
- Bulk Box contains up to 34-40 pounds
We ALWAYS recommend ordering a LARGE BOX for the best value, when compared to a Small Box. Because shipping, handling, and delivery are so expensive per package, the Large Box will contain more fruit and ultimately a better value.
