Important Info: We grow multiple varieties of Lychee here in South Florida, If you order this Emperor lychee box, you will receive the Emperor variety. We only ship fresh lychee grown in Florida. The season for lychees is very short. Emperor Lychee harvesting in South Florida is typically during the month of June.
Origin: Lychee is a tropical and subtropical fruit native to the Guangdong and Fujian provinces of China, and now cultivated in many parts of the world. Emperor Lychee is one of the more rare and sought after varieties in the world. It was said that only the Emperor had these lychees growing in their palace.
Flavor Profile: The fruit is BIG and extremely juicy - a burst of juice and flavor in every bite. The flavor is sweet and has a light tang to it, but what really makes this variety special is the experience of eating such large and juicy bites! Fit for an Emperor. The fresh fruit has a delicate, whitish pulp with a floral smell and a fragrant, sweet flavor.
How To Eat: After it is picked, Lychee skin stays pink for only 2 days. Imported Lychees are often sprayed with preservatives to keep them pink. This is why we do not sell imported Lychees. It is possible that the outside of your Lychees may turn brown in transit. They will still be good to eat 1-2 weeks after they are picked depending on how they are stored. You can prolong the oxidation by storing them in a plastic bag or airtight container. We recommend eating the lychee as soon as you get them and refrigerate any left over right away. It makes the perfect on the go snack, and is a great substitute for candy.
First come first serve, any orders that can't be shipped this season will be reserved for next season.
The total weight of each box varies depending on the size, shape, and mass of the fruit:
- Small Box contains up to 3-5 pounds
- Large Box contains up to 8-10 pounds
We ALWAYS recommend ordering a LARGE BOX for the best value, when compared to a Small Box. Because shipping, handling, and delivery are so expensive per package, the Large Box will contain more fruit and ultimately a better value.
*CANNOT SHIP TO CALIFORNIA*
