Origin: The Fairchild mango originated in the Panama Canal Zone during the early 1900s. The fruit was named after the family of David Fairchild, who had taken a liking to the variety. It was first brought to the United States through Hawaii in 1926, then introduced to Florida in 1936 by David Fairchild. It was named a 2010 Curator's Choice mango for the 2010 mango festival at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden.
Flavor Profile: This mango has dark yellow and juicy flesh, which is fiberless and has a rich and aromatic flavor and contains a mono-embryonic seed. It typically ripens from June to July in Florida.
How To Eat: The Fairchild mango is ripe when it is soft and it typically changes color from green to yellow. Mangos should be left on a counter or in a pantry at room temperature of 70 degrees Fahrenheit or above for optimal ripening. Once soft all over, cut into each cheek and spoon out the inner flesh!
First come first serve, any orders that can't be shipped this season will be reserved for next season.
The total weight of each box varies depending on the size, shape, and mass of the fruit:
- Small Box contains up to 3-5 pounds
- Large Box contains up to 8-10 pounds
We ALWAYS recommend ordering a LARGE BOX for the best value, when compared to a Small Box. Because shipping, handling, and delivery are so expensive per package, the Large Box will contain more fruit and ultimately a better value.
