The star apple, also known as caimito, gets its name from the star shape found inside the pulp when it is cut in half at its equator.
It is also called milk fruit due to its milky-looking juices that leak out when cut open.
The texture of this fruit is juicy and quite similar to a ripe hachiya persimmon, while the flavor is sweet but not overly sweet, resembling that of a grape or berry, but without the tartness. The milky sap inside the fruit gives a comforting, nostalgic sensation while eating it.
Although it may seem to have fibers inside, it is completely fiberless in texture. Overall, this fruit is truly unique in terms of flavor and texture and is a must-try for fruit lovers.
