Sapodilla season is winding down here in South Florida.
This fruit goes by a thousand different names such as sapodilla, nispero, chico sapote etc.) but our favorite thing to call it is brown sugar fruit!
Sapodilla may look like a potato on the outside, but when ripe, they are sweet as brown sugar!
My favorite way to eat them is on their own, but they also make a great sweetener.
Now's your last chance of the season to taste brown sugar in fruit form!
Sapodillas can take a long time to ripen. When ripe, it will be soft enough to open with your hands.
