The Hidden Rose Apple is a natural apple discovered in the 1960s at a fruit farm in Airlie Oregon when the owner took a bite of an apple from a mature tree and found it was pinkish red on the inside.
The farm was later sold in 1966, and then 20 years later, the field manager of the farm rediscovered the special tree after taking a bite from one of its apples.
The first Hidden Rose orchard was planted in 1992.
