This super rare fruit can be eaten crunchy or slightly soft, but not mushy. The texture is similar to a cooked squash and unripe peach. It has the flavor of an apricot with a hint of citrus.
Mammea americana, commonly known as mammee, mammee apple, mamey, mamey apple, Santo Domingo apricot, tropical apricot, or South American apricot, is an evergreen tree of the family Calophyllaceae, whose fruit is edible.
Mammee Apple is grown in Florida in small quantities, but this in particular is grown in Grenada.
We pack our flat rate boxes as full as we can. The total weight varies depending on the size, shape, and mass of the fruit:
- Small Box contains up to 3-6 pounds.
- Large Box contains up to 10-14 pounds.
- Extra Large Box contains up to 20-26 pounds.
- Bulk Box contains up to 35-45 pounds.
We ALWAYS recommend ordering a LARGE BOX for the best value, when compared to a Small Box. Because shipping, handling, and delivery are so expensive per package, the Large Box will contain more fruit and ultimately a better value.
